What is it?
This is the front lower spoiler for W107 280, 350, 450 SL and SLC cars made up to 1976.
This product was specifically designed to fit W107 Models from 1971 – 1976, but will fit all W107 Models nicely.
It is a fibreglass reproduction, exclusively designed and developed by SLSHOP, made to original Mercedes-Benz specifications.
This replaces part number 1078880238, an item that has been unavailable for many years.
Where does it go?
The W107 SL Front Grille Spoiler mounts beneath the front bumper on earlier cars, made up to 1976. It is designed to protect the radiator from debris.
Mercedes-Benz changed the design of the front spoiler as the SL matured in its life, with three distinct variants of the front spoiler as listed below:
1971 to 1976 – not full width but as wide as the radiator plus roughly 10 inches each side. Made of hard plastic.*
1976 to 1986 - full width spoiler which curled up at the edges. Made of rubbery plastic.*
1986 to 1989 - a revised, larger and more extensive front valance. It is made out of steel.
*Both options screw to the metal painted valance using self tapping screws and captive nuts (speed clips)
Why do I need it?
Being on the leading edge of the vehicle, this is a key area for road damage. Over time, your Front Grille Spoiler will deteriorate and crack, making this the perfect replacement for your car. Ours is made from lightweight but strong fibreglass, developed carefully to our own specification. As with all our exclusive products, they have to be good enough to use on our showroom cars before we offer them for sale on our website.

This part replaces original part number 1078880238 and fits all varieties of SL and SLC made up to 1976, including both left hand drive and right hand drive cars.
