The Fan Speed Resistor Unit is the connection point between the dashboard fan controls (0, 1, 2, 3, DEF), and the speed at which the cabin air fan spins.
A faulty unit is usually indicated by one or more of the following scenarios, although we do advise you check power supply, ruling out short circuits as well as ensuring the fan bearings are free to spin without resistance.
This resistor is an example of one of those must-have essential items that previously could not be obtained. Historically, these units could only be refurbished, under very particular circumstances and carrying long wait times.
After 14 months of development, SLSHOP is delighted to present you with the first off-the-shelf replacement heater resistor unit, developed to operate more efficiently than the original, generating less heat whilst also eliminating the fragile Bakelite base plate and rust-prone carbon steel internals that cause so many problems on the original Mercdes unit. Our Exclusive reproduction features epoxy composites and Nichrome resistors, both offering more longevity than the original Mercedes resistor. Less heat generated means this unit can be built with an enclosed housing to prevent water ingress, which is a common issue associated with original units and a possible indicator of bulkhead corrosion.
To uphold SLSHOP quality and reputation, this fan speed resistor has been stress tested inhouse on bespokemade equipment in repeat cycles of up to 33 hours. replicating years of motoring before it ever made its way in to our catalogue.
This unit is compatible with all European spec SL and SLC 107 models, with or without air conditioning. But is not suitable for vehicles equipped with automatic climate control systems.
