SL W113 PAGODA GLASS
In the era of the SL W113 Pagoda, Mercedes sourced their glass almost entirely from Sekurit and this relationship lasted for decades after production ceased. The original clear/transparent glass used a laminated windscreen with tempered door glass bolted into manually wound window regulators.
The removable hardtop windows were also tempered glass and all three pieces were strung into place using rubber seals with no adhesive.
November 1964 saw Mercedes introduce optional thermally insulating glass, with a green tint designed to reduce the effects of radiation and improve control of the cabin’s temperature.
In August 1969, Mercedes added an electrically heated rear screen for the SL W113 Pagoda’s hardtop roof. The ‘invisible’ fine wire heating elements were sandwiched between layers of laminated glass, but this proved unpopular at the time and as such even used examples are now rare and sought after by purists and restorers.
Whatever your preference, SLSHOP can supply you with the non-heated and heated rear screen glass, as well as a new windscreen and the 2-cup suction lifter to remove your old one. We also supply all the seals required to keep your cabin watertight.
